What is Being Done

There are currently two big organizations that are trying to save the moraine.

Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation(ORMF)
-working with people more than the municipalities
-treats and maintains trails
-teaches adults and children about the moraine
-does research on the moraine
-secures land

Save The Oak Ridges Moraine(STORM) Coalition
-works with the municipalities
-ensures proper land usage

Money Spent for Protection

The ORMF last year alone spent roughly $3,000,000 in grants to protect the Moraine in many ways including Stewardship, Land Securement, Research, maintenance of Trail Systems, and Education and Public Understanding. As you can see below is a graph explaining how much money was spent in each category.

Peregrine Falcons

The falcons have been bred in falconry in the United States, but little can be done here in the Oak Ridges Moraine because it is not their natural habitat, it is just a park they fly through during migration to find some food. But making sure that there is adequate food supplies can help the falcons on their journey.
